You would like to book that one flying holiday or visit family abroad. But because you have to get on a plane, you don't book that trip. For example, you are afraid of turbulence or of crashing. Or maybe you get nervous at the thought of being locked up in an aeroplane.

Fear of flying is caused by unpleasant experiences, for example. Sometimes it is transmitted, often unconsciously, by people in the immediate vicinity. As many as 35 out of 100 people develop a fear of flying sooner or later. So it is actually very common.

Would you like to look forward to a flight again? You too can overcome your fear of flying and we would like to help you do so.

What will you do during the fear of flying course?

Fear of flying differs enormously per person. That is why the programme is tailored to your needs. Conquering fear of flying can be scary and confrontational. Our specialists have experience with this and guide you step by step through this process. You follow the programme at a pace that you feel comfortable with. The total training takes about 2 hours.

You always start outside the simulator with a conversation with our specialist, just at the table. Over a cup of coffee or tea, we determine what exactly your fears are. Then, later in the training, we focus on the parts that are relevant to you.

The next step is the 'mock-up'. This is a replica of the cockpit of the Boeing 737. All the buttons, levers and switches are there but they do not work. The instructor gives a short explanation of what the pilots do in the air.

When you're ready, you take a seat in the simulator together with our specialist. Nothing happens yet, just sit down and take in the impressions of the cockpit. The instructor will give you more information and explanations about flying.

Full-motion simulator

The next step is to fly the simulator. We start quietly and gradually build up to it. We focus on the points that are difficult for you. For example, we can fly with turbulence or poor visibility. The instructor will go through various scenarios with you and explain how things work in the cockpit. Because it is a full motion simulator, you feel everything just like 'in real life'.

The simulator is an exact replica of a Boeing 737 cockpit. All buttons and instruments work like in real life. The simulator moves while flying and is therefore indistinguishable from the real thing. This simulator is also used for pilot training. The simulator can also be flown 'static'. Then you see that you are flying on the horizon and instruments, but you don't feel the plane move. This is a lot less realistic and therefore a good compromise for some.

Location

This training is given at Lelystad Airport. This is a small but busy airport with a lot of recreational air traffic. From the training location you have a view on the runway.

De cursus was erg leerzaam en Theo legde alles heel fijn en rustig uit. Ook in de simulator legde hij rustig uit wat de piloten doen in de lucht. Ik ben echt wat zekerder geworden voor vliegen en over 3 weken ga ik hopelijk ( en ik denk het wel) een stuk rustiger en fijner het vliegtuig in!

Fijn dat Theo de tijd nam en refereerde naar dingen in het dagelijks leven. De simulator was super leerzaam en tijdens hevige turbulentie deed hij de deur even open en kon je zien hoe het vliegtuig heen en weer ging. Dat deed me beseffen dat turbulentie helemaal niet zo erg en heftig was, als dat ik altijd dacht. Hele fijne cursus met een fijne instructeur, die ook de onderdelen brengt met een vleugje humor!

The course was very informative and Theo explained everything very nicely and calmly. Even in the simulator, he calmly explained what the pilots do in the air. I have really become more confident about flying and in three weeks' time I will hopefully (and I think I will) enter the plane a lot calmer and nicer! It was great that Theo took his time and referred to things in everyday life. The simulator was super instructive and during severe turbulence he opened the door for a moment and you could see how the plane went back and forth. That made me realise that turbulence was not at all as bad and severe as I always thought. Very nice course with a nice instructor, who also brings the parts with a touch of humour!

I recently did a fear of flying course in a simulator with Captain Theo, and it was an incredible experience. Before the flight, he took the time to explain every sound you hear on an airplane, everything about turbulence, and asked me questions about my own fears. He really helped me think rationally about my irrational thoughts.

We then did a simulated flight to Brussels with live weather. I was quite nervous at the start and even had a little cry, but Captain Theo stayed so calm and reassuring that he quickly put me at ease. He explained everything step by step, never rushed me, and even showed me how planes have double of every system – not just copies, but completely separate backups.

His calm approach and clear explanations made a huge difference, and I feel much more confident about flying now

Heel leerzaam en het heeft enorm goed geholpen tegen mijn vliegangst!

Het was heel leuk dat de simulator aanvoelde als een echt vliegtuig, wat ik niet had verwacht, maar het voelt echt levensecht! Theo is een hele aardige man die alles heel goed uitlegt waarom dingen op een bepaalde manier werken en waarom je bepaalde dingen hoort of ziet in een vliegtuig.

It was very nice that the simulator felt like a real plane, which I didn't expect, but it really feels true to life! Theo is a very nice man who explains everything very well why things work a certain way and why you hear or see certain things in a plane.

Een vliegangst cursus gehad bij Theo. Een hele sympathieke man die het erg luchtig houdt, wat heel fijn is. Luistert goed naar jou en je angsten en legt super fijn uit. Refereert naar dagelijkse dingen, zoals veel gebruikt openbaar vervoer. Neemt de tijd voor jou.
Vond het vooraf moeilijk te geloven hoe mij dit zou helpen, aangezien mijn gevoel weet dat je niet echt de lucht in gaat, maar door de simulator is die gedachte snel verdwenen. Het voelt heel realistisch.
Een ontzettend fijne en verbazingwekkend leuke ervaring.

Alles was zeer behulpzaam voor mijn angst en door Theo, die af en toe een grapje tussendoor maakt, voelt het heel ongedwongen.

Had a fear of flying course with Theo. A very likeable man who keeps it very light-hearted, which is very nice. Listens carefully to you and your fears and explains super nicely. Refers to everyday things, such as frequently used public transport. Takes time for you.
Found it hard to believe beforehand how this would help me, as my gut knows you don't really take to the air, but the simulator quickly dispelled that thought. It feels very realistic.
An incredibly fine and amazingly fun experience.

Everything was very helpful for my anxiety and because of Theo, who occasionally jokes in between, it feels very casual.

Een goede uitleg over vliegen, vliegtuig geluiden en bewegingen en vliegangst. Daarna een mooie vlucht gemaakt in de Simulator, was een leuke ervaring en een mooi uitzicht vanuit de cockpit. Nu alleen de laatste stap nog, daadwerkelijk met een echt vliegtuig mee gaan.

Goed bereikbaar en makkelijk parkeren.
