It's enormously busy in the sky. If every plane flew from A to B on its own, major accidents would happen every day. Air traffic controllers make sure that planes can fly through their areas safely and with sufficient distance from each other. At any moment, he knows where each plane is and what the plane is doing. Knowing this requires crystal-clear communication; pilot and air traffic controller must understand each other 100%. This requires discipline and a special way of communicating.

Air traffic control simulator

The air traffic control simulator (Air Traffic Control) lets you work as an air traffic controller or as a pilot who wants to land or depart from the gate. If you want to depart, you have to deal with four air traffic controllers; Delivery, Ground, Tower and Departure. The air traffic controller plays all those roles, four on departing and three on arriving aircraft. The pilots are in contact with all the controllers. So you get a very good idea of what which controller does and how the whole process of arriving and departing is divided. You also learn how aviation communication works so that no mistakes are made if you follow the procedure exactly. The latter, of course, is very important for safety. You will work with three people in the simulator and of course others are allowed to watch.

The location is at Teuge Airport. At this airport, you'll see all kinds of planes flying in and out. This gets you in the mood!

After being welcomed at the location, you will go to the air traffic control simulator. You will experience the communication between pilot and air traffic controller and how to communicate flawlessly. In addition, you will have an overview with everything that happens around Schiphol. You will perform all procedures yourself with the accompanying text. You will learn how different air traffic controllers guide each aircraft. Listening and remembering messages play an important role for an air traffic controller. Of course, the instructor will help you with everything.

Will you manage to fly a plane safely through the area? From now on, you will know how things work in the control tower.

How long the experience lasts is up to you. The minimum is 90 minutes. But the longer, the more fun, of course!
